After receiving an undergraduate degree in finance from the University of California, Davis in 1980, Dr. Ahlmeyer took an 8-year sabbatical to pursue her passions for river and snow sports. She eventually became a lead river guide on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho and Selway River in Montana, the two most coveted, multi-day, wild and scenic river experiences in the nation. Dr. Ahlmeyer spent her winters skiing in the backcountry above Ketchum, Idaho. Upon returning to academics to complete her medical training, Dr. Ahlmeyer’s academic experience specific to medicine is as follows:
